WOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO O 27-3 = r.a.p.e. HECK YEA.
Fri, Oct. 7th, 2005, 01:50 am
sooo yeah, i haven't really updated in a WHILE, when was the last time, my second day of berkeley? wow, that seems like such a long time ago...what day is it today? october 7th. lets see, so ive been here either 6 or 7 weeks...wow... so whats been goin on in my life? well, tons. that's just about the only way i can describe it. between classes, friends, meeting new people, and college life in general, i haven't had much time to sign online. so yeah, if you're wondering why i stopped signing on so much, its because of that. but yea, i just have to say that my previous worries, about what i could expect at berkeley, were completely unwarranted. maybe its just college life in general, but berkeley far exceeded my expectations. What i expected was a bunch of cut-throat, crazy partying, liberal, weed-smoking, constantly drunk and the like people. What i got was a whole different story. While a great majority of the people on the campus here fall into at least one of those above categories, most of the students are just normal, amicable, down to earth people who I had a pleasure getting to know. I must say that my biggest worry about berkeley would be that i would never be able to replace my awesome group of friends from HS. but again, it was completely unwarranted. I was lucky enough to find myself an awesome group of people who are as close to christians as atheists can get. And the best part is that we have tons of fun. Sometimes i worry that i forget the things i've done too easily. I regret that i dont document often enough my activities - so that during the times i'm feeling nostalgic i can't go back and riffle through my past. So i'll try giving it a try right here. Ultimate frisbee from 1-3 AM (bounding for touchdowns!!!) its a good thing i got so much practice for this over the summer, haha. crazy suits + ties dress up nights in celebration of birthdays. haha this was hilarious, we dressed up like CRAZY and walked all the way to the restaurants which turned out to not even be that great. while we were walking everyone we saw turned their heads and STARED. oh yeah and what is it with girls and having guys dress up? Final fantasy. For some reason our suite got really into FF7 and we all competed to see who could farthest the fastest. Card games. We mostly did this during welcome week/the first few weeks of school, when everyone didn't really have that much work. It was a lot of fun, and was a great tool to get to know everyone Pool, foosball, and ping pong. Again, we did a lot of these more towards the first few weeks. Pool was a lot of fun, we had tournaments and stuff among our suite. needless to say i raped everyone in foosball =D. and ping pong, wow! So there was this guy named James in my group that everyone said was really good at ping pong, so when Robby came up to visit I had him go against robby one on one. and wow, before my eyes i saw robby get massacred!! i was like WTF HOW IS ROBBY GETTING BEAT SO BAD. yea. it was crazy. late night runs. this is probably better described as really early morning runs. or should i say 2 AM runs. yea. 'nuff said. acting drunk late at night. Haha, this mostly consisted of laughing at all the drunk people, and pretending to act like them. One of my friends, Scott, who is crazy btw, would take his shirt of and run around the street yelling PENIS!!!! at least he did until cop cars started driving by, hahahahahahahaha soccer. lets see, the last time i played soccer was like, 3rd grade? yea, about all i could really do was use my body to block shots and kick the ball really really far. when it came to getting the ball past someone who knew what they were doing, i bsically got owned. that game is TIRING! badminton. HAHA i was a joke. i touched my first badminton raquet for the first time in my life and got OWNED by the...birdie? is that what its called? hahah i couldn't ven hit it myfirst few times, and after that it didn't really get any easier. haha i guess ill just leave this to the people who know what they're doing volleyball. multiple times, TONS of fun, probably because i'm tall enough to play net efficiently =) NFL Street. this game is SO old, i have no idea why we got into it. my group made its own team and we owned with them. we got so addicted to this game. HALO 2. played this maybe every other day for the first few weeks, and enetered in a tourney which turned out to be a lot of fun. Doing crazy thins in general. For example, you know the noise you make when you approve of a food? it sounds something like "MMMMHMMM!" like when you eat a fresh cookie and its freaking DELICIOUS. but yeah, imagine a group of people doing that really loudly and obnoxiously in the middle of the dining commons. what you get is a LOT of weird stares. its fun, you should try it. oh man, another crazy thing-cardboard sledding at 1:00 AM. There's this hill in front of our dorm and since we dont have ice to go iceblocking on it, we go cardboarding when the sprinklers are on, which is mainly during the night. Trying to guess a random person's name when their back is turned to you. if you see a good looking girl, yell "KIM! SAMMY! JUDY! ANNA! ELIZABETH! JANE! HANNAH! CHRISTINE!" and maybe you'll get lucky =D COUNTER-STRIKE! all the guys in our suite LAN CS like at least every other day and we go at it. the girls get entertainment from just listening to our reactions. "OMG WTF I SHOT YOU IN THE HEAD HOW COME YOU DIDN'T DIE" or "DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU UUUUUUDE YOU GOT LUCKY BIOTCH!!!" or "I HATE YOU EDISON!!!!!!!!!!!!!" (hehe i got that one a lot =P) late night dance parties. this one took me a little bit to get used to. one because its, well, DANCING, and two because well, since most people came from a non-christian school you have to get used to people freaking. which isn't actually as bad as it sounds, but still beyond me. But yeah, once i got used to them, they were a ton of fun. crank up the music and let the crowd go. haha we got written up once for being so loud. Oh and lets not forget the RUBIK'S CUBE!! oh wow, i've already taught like 15 people to do the rubik's cube, and they've already taught people how to solve it; it just keeps spreading! we have rivalries against other suites, its sooo much fun!!! luckily for me there are only 93 people in this world faster than me, and as far as i know none of them go to berkeley. so yea, im set. Down to earth good ol' fashioned chill time. Play some music, start up a subject, and we could go on just talking for hours. Discussion time on Friday nights at 1 AM! Baking and pigging out at 3 AM. what can i say? we were hungry. Working out. One really good thing about my group is that all the guys work out, so we keep eachother accountable. Haha theres this one rally buff guy who we all look up to, its great. movie nights. popcorn. a good movie. discussion afterwards. fun stuff. football games. these things are absolutely CRAZY. what the heck. we have to stand up for the entire game and do these crazy cheers and hand motions and card tricks and stuff. what the heck i didn't know football games were like that. haha well it was an interesting experience and actually quite fun. And really pumping school-spirit wise since our team is actually really good. and since we were playing NFL street recently, i could analyze and compare/contrast plays in the game to real life games. But yeah, i know i'm missing things, i can feel it. I'll add them as they come along. Oh yeah, another thing i was worried about when i came to berkeley - that everyone would be incredibly fricken smart. And to some degree, my worry was warranted in this case cause, its UCB we're talking about here, and anyone who manages to get in has to be smart to some degree. My group of friends is crazy smart - we were comparing SAT scores this other day and they were all 'oh yeah i got a 1570' or 1540 or 1590 or something to that degree. there were even a few 1600s. wth. I was like, um...i got a 1490?' =X. and ap scores? lets not even go there. the only thing i can say is that to them a 4 is a disgrace. wtf. so yeah, i was really worried about being below average at first. but then i just realized that its mostly my group of friends thats this fricken smart, the rest of berkeley isn't like this, definately. haha or else i'm screwed Oh yeah and on a sidenote, daniel hudson, manas agastya, and i all competed in the official california cubing tournament on september 17th. i should call them misters 122nd in the world and 169th in world. officially. haha good job you two, that tournament was a LOT of fun, we're all PUMPED for the next tourney which is in san fran on jan 14th. anyone else interested in going?
OMG! berkeley is SOOOOOO much fun!!! i absolutely love it here!!!! I have made soo many new friends, and already i'm developing close relationships with a few of them. the people here are awesome, the campus is awesome, my dorming complex is awesome, the food is awesome, there are events every few hours which is awesome, all of the experiences are awesome, and in short - berkeley is awesome. I am SO excited about this upcoming year!!! college is insane - take a bunch of people scattered throughout the US & the rest of the world, throw them together on a campus a few miles in diameter, and force them to interact and you have college. It's amazing - i've met people from as far as turkey to orange county to walnut creek to boston to the carolinas to right in downtown San HO - and i would have NEVER had the opportunity to meet ANY of these people if it had not been for college. A piece of advice to those who have not yet started college - be as socially active as possible. I made an effort to introduce myself to every moving thing, and its paying off. I can't go anywhere without seeing a friendly face, and this is only the second day!!!! words can't describe how excited i am. gosh, and they have LAN parties every week, HALO tourneys, game board meetings, its INSANE. i know that i will absolutely LOVE it here, and i hope that you guys all manage to have a good time too. i'll see you all on the other side.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! i just saw my AP scores. and wow was i happy. I PASSED EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MY TESTSSSSSS! and to top it off i only got two 3's (in the classes i didn't really care about). which means the majority were 4+'s! dude. i am SO happy. hahaha and i looked back at all my predictions, and they were all right. lol.

w00t w00t! good news! actually really excellent news! on friday i was playing volleyball and then WHAM i felt this crazy pain in my lung. since i've felt the pain before i knew right away i had pneumothorax again. so i go to the hospital yesterday and they take an x-ray and tell me that 15% of my right lung collapsed and they might have to perform surgery to stick a tube into the hole and force the lung upright again. so yea, that was pretty scary but as it turns out today we went back in for an x-ray and the whole thing completely disappeared! the doctor was like '...wtf?' so yea, i was gonna be hospitalized for maybe 2 or 3 days, but now i dont have to! yay! thanks for all your prayers.

Sun, May. 8th, 2005, 02:16 pm jsb
jsb was...quite an experience. One because i did quite a few things i've never done before in my life...and two because thinking back on it i found out a lot of things about myself. and now i can't get over the fact that we have...less than 3 weeks of school left. holy crap! it makes me really sad to think about it because i feel as if i'm just starting to get to know people...i look back to my freshman/sophomore years, and i realize that they were SUCH a waste! the things i wouldve done differently if i knew then what i know now... i'm determined not to make the same mistake in college. Anyways, thanks to everyone who convinced me into going, because, seriously, the person i am now is most definately NOT the same person i was three weeks ago.
Fri, May. 6th, 2005, 06:27 pm
holy crap...JSB is tomorrow, that's insane. since everyone's telling me how i'll probably be up until, like, 4-5 in the morning tomorrow, i've devised a method to temporarily shift my sleeping habits over a few hours just for tomorrow. i hope this works, but with my luck, it'll just backfire on me >.>
Thu, May. 5th, 2005, 04:23 pm
meh. i guess english was okay. i'm not expecting anything greater than a 3, i think i have a chance at a 4, but small -_- 60-80% of the m/c and 40-70% of the essays ugh. i hate essays! cause its not like math where there's a set answer, subjectiveness comes into play (if maybe only slightly). ugh...and does anyone know what exactly they tell us at that luncheon thing next friday? do they actually tell us who got what?
Wed, May. 4th, 2005, 04:33 pm erg...
erm...is it a bad thing if my eyes were wandering off the road cause i'm zoning while driving? ya, my eyes like..can't focus on anything. i'm even having trouble writing this, not bothering to correct my grammar or anything. but yea. i guess this is what 8 hours of straight testing does to you? meh. and for some strange reason taking the computer science test felt like an occurance in deja vu. the m/c was a LOT easier than i expected, and most of the people in my class were thinking the same thing. but then when it came to FRQ time, i died. well not as bad as calc, ut still, comparatively, i died. again, this is for my own future referrence: 80-90% of the m/cs and 70-80% of the FRQ's. so yea, i'm REALLY hoping for a 5, but more likely than not i'll end up with a very solid 4 :-\ oh yeah and stats was easy, no suprises there 95-100% of the m/cs and 90-100% of the FRQs. anyyyyyways if anyone else took the comp sci test, i want to talk to you about some of the frqs! lol. ...soooo i have english tomorrow but i dont feel like studying for it, can you blame me? O:-) maybe i'll brush over it or something, but definately not now.
Tue, May. 3rd, 2005, 04:11 pm
haha, BC test today. i think overall it wasn't TOO bad. Everyone was doing fine up till they handed out the FRQ's, now THOSE were painful. I had to bs my way through a problem or two cause our teacher honestly never taught us the material. (polar integration? i haven't looked at polar coordinates since...last year! lol) but yea. this is more for my own referrence, but i think i managed to answer correctly: 70-80% of the m/c, and 60-70% of the FRQ's and as for the 20% m/c's i dont think i got...i left those blank >< but yea. i'm hoping for a 4, that would make me REALLY happy. anyways...comp sci and stats tomorrow, lookin for a 4 on comp sci and a 5 on stats...
Sat, Apr. 30th, 2005, 08:00 pm
holy crap...these next two weeks are going to be SO tiring. today - ap physics study session, prom shopping, ap comp sci study group, calc self-study sunday - church, then calc study full-blast monday - school then more calc full-blastin tuesday - AP calc test, then get home and then 1-2 hours of stats/3-4 hours of comp sci wednesday - AP comp sci test in the mornin then AP stats test in the afternoon (o.o that's going to hurt), after school memorize all english literary terms thursday - AP english test, then full-blast physics memorization for final friday - physics final (hollenbeck is CRAZY), then major prep for prom sat - prom (MAJOR stress) sun #2 - lots of sleep and MAYBE some physics study mon #2 - AP physics (whole day) then lots of studyin for gov tuesday #2 - school then lots more of gov studyin wednesday #2 - AP gov test, then GO TO SLEEP AT 8 OR SOMETHING CAUSE ITS FINALLY OVER thurday #2 - make up for all the rubik's cube practice i missed i find it funny how i'm barely stressing over AP tests and yet i stress 2389890538058% more for prom. but yea. thinking about these next two weeks makes me just want to go to sleep. in fact, i think i'm going to do that right now.
Wed, Apr. 27th, 2005, 08:37 pm weird
with everything that's been going on, i've been feeling REALLY weird lately. i dont know how to describe it. Now that I think of it, I suppose you could call it major mood swings. depression, longing, determination, hopelessness, ignorant, poignant, pensive, and other things i just can't describe. I've been looking into myself and who I am as a person...and what i found there-my arrogance, my desires, my selfishness, my habits, my thoughts, my pride, my joys- i don't like. I dont know what it all means, but i do know one thing. I want to change.
Sat, Apr. 9th, 2005, 07:27 pm haha
Mon, Apr. 4th, 2005, 10:21 pm eecs = death
well....looks like i'm going to berkeley. EECS! yea, well, i'm ready to die... anyways, college seems like its going to be great, other than the, well, college part. yea. if that made any sense. anyways, so far the berkley-ian list is as follows!~ brian kim - eecs albert wu(most likely) - mech eng eric tai(possibly) - mech eng hank shih - bioeng. chanman - mech eng. fabien(maybe) - poli sci suhaas! - eecs eric trieu - letters/science undeclared min xu - eecs mike tsiang - chem eng. david wu shang - cs alex farrokhian! (or however you spell her name O:-) - biology oh yeah, this is more like for my own referrence, but here's a list of people i know are goin UCLA, my second choice... jeff duh baran ho! charles chen brian yan neeraj berry pohan chen yi hua sharon im christina kiang(maybe) kevin tran (probably) mike lin jessica alex (hopefully) anyways if there's anymore just comment! or something. so i can add you. yea. time for bed.
Sat, Mar. 26th, 2005, 07:16 pm

wow. wiebe. wow. wow. i have got to say. this is wiebe's second best joke of the year. His first best? if you ask nicely i'll tell :) but anyways, on to his second best joke of the year. So Justin Klein happened to have his zipper unzipped for the day. So in Comp Sci, he decides to stand up and stretch a little XD And as it happens, Prystine, who sits right next to him, notices that his zipper's undone and yells "EWWWW JUSTIN YOUR ZIPPER'S WIIIDE OPEN" And now Justin, who i'm sure is EXTREMELY humiliated by now, is looking down in horror, when mr. Wiebe, bless him, decides to throw in this little comment: "He even has a little tag attached to it that says: 'Free of charge' too" ...wow. wow. wow. and it gets worse...(for most of you, the joke ends there. unless you understand what flash is, you won't get this) </flashback> and so mr wiebe, remembering all of this, decides to comment further: "He calls it flashing" ..wow. wow.

okay, listen up all you adamant bush-haters, To begin, i'm not exactly a bush-supporter myself, so dont think that i'm simply writing this out of defense for bush. My primary concern in writing this is my country and its people. Okay, onto my point- I've noticed, and i'm sure that just about everyone else has as well, that the whole controversy over the presidency has created a major rift in the American people. It doesn't matter where I am or what i'm doing, whenever the topic of the presidency comes up, a heated debate arises in which neither side can come to an agreement, and the rift further widens. Yes, I do agree that Bush has made quite a few errors-an error in handling iraqi intelligence, an error in sending our troops to iraq, an error in a lack of environmental concerns, etc. I do believe, however, that what this nation needs most of all at this time is unity. Throughout history, the American people were able to overcome any obstacle when they united together (the greatest example of which can be seen in WWII). Does anyone else see a major parallel in the the War in Iraq and the War in Vietnam? Enemy soil halfway across the world, hit-and-run guerrila warfare, an entering into the war off of faulty information, and most imprtantly of all: a MAJOR rift in the American people. Did you know that the only war America has ever lost was the Vietnam War? So i urge you: don't let history repeat itself. History is studied to be learned from, not repeated. I'm not saying you have to love bush. If that's the idea you got from reading this, you may as well go right back up and re-read this whole thing. What i'm saying is: don't go around sowing the seeds of division; people are people-we all have our own unique opinions. It's beyond too late to back out of iraq now. The best possible choice we have as the American People, in my opinion, is to unite in support of it, whether we agreed with it or not. I sincerely hope that Iraq's parallel to Vietnam will only go so far.
